The Kansas Jayhawks
I was thinking of my favorite team last night; which happen to be the Kansas Jayhawks. It came to me that many people wonder why the Jayhawk looks the way it does. The Jayhawk stands on two legs to resemble a person. The term Jayhawk comes from a group of abolitionists that called themselves jayhawkers. The mythical bird is a combination of a blue jay and a sparrow hawk. The Rock Chalk Jayhawk chant has many mythical origins to how it started. Some say it's a secret chemistry formula. Others say it was inspired by a professor on a train ride. Last, others say it used during WW1 as a way to scare the enemy.
